This series began after I listened to a radio discussion about the history of busts and how likeness and representation have been manipulated to perpetuate the symbols of power and transfer authority from one legacy to the next. From this I developed a series of male and female busts exploring gaps between individual and the iconic using a range of personages and styles, and continued the idea into drawings that further elaborated notions of the absurd, profane and stereotypical.
